Nathan Brown is a main character in the science fiction comedy television series Upload. He is a party-boy/coder who is uploaded after a car crash. Nathan Brown is portrayed by Robbie Amell.

Nathan Brown is a software developer who was working on an app with a long-time friend and competitive gaming teammate, Jamie. He had attended Carnegie Mellon University where he had dated a few girlfriends, one of which was Holdne. He was described as "a barracuda in a f**king toilet bowl", which was attributed to "a minor in narcissism".
Despite Nathan's obvious charm and charisma, his relationships with friends and family are hardly as strong as he had believed them to be. This likely was due to in part to Nathan's vanity, ego, and desire to provide. This leads him to remember, rekindle, and repair his past-life relationships, while simultaneously facing the challenges of making nice with his fellow people in an upload universe.
History[]
Nathan was presumably born in New York or California to Vivian Brown and Roger Brown. He was raised by his mother, Vivian and had a good relationship with her. It is known that he has a sibling but is yet to be seen. Nathan self proclaims that he was popular in elementary, middle, and high school. When he entered Carnegie Mellon University, he was described by three of his ex-girlfriends, Bethany, Holden and Glynn as an attractive freshman who got better looking every year and apparently was a good boyfriend. During his university days, he was employed as a Barista in a coffee shop and worked as a part-time catalogue model. He also vowed to make a change for impoverished people as he did not grow up privileged.
It is unclear when he met his best friend, Jamie Arpaz, however, the duo formed a business partnership to develop an application, ‘Beyond’ for impoverished people to be uploaded to a virtual afterlife, if they choose. They formed a company and pitched their app to multiple companies, including Oliver Kannerman’s company. Eventually, the duo decided to partner with Josh Pitzer’s company, Cavern Investments.
